Scarebird disc brake conversion
 

I'm doing the disc brake to drum spindle conversion using the Scarebird brackets for my 68 Firebird as I want to keep the 14" rally 2's (JC code). I've used the parts as recommended, including the Chevy Celebrity calipers and Monte Carlo rotors. Everything has bolted together fine except rather than moving the wheel out 1/8 or 1/4 like a lot of other kits this moved my wheel inboard .30". Problem is the inner lip of the wheel now has zero clearance with the steering arm ball joint. So the wheel needs to move out. I guess I could use a wheel spacer and longer studs, but first wondering if anyone else who used the Scarebird kit for first gen Firebirds had this issue? Thanks.

I had other issues with Scarebird, but not the one you're having. Sent it back and got Wilwood disc brakes. Good luck!

Uncommon for the disc to move inboard, typically there is a 1.75" hub to hub increase with the majority of standard disc conversions on these cars.

That said, a small spacer isn't going to hurt anything, especially given the grip levels that tires for the 14" wheels can generate. I'd order up some from speedway, along with a bit longer stud if needed and be done with it.
