The latest scam?
 

Over the past year I've posted in the parts wanted section several times. At least twice, I've had someone that just signed onto the forum that day tell me to contact someone else (outside of the forum) for the part. Easy enough to spot these scammers as they have no posts either.

Well, today I may have found another version of this scam. I had someone reply to another of my wanted posts, however this time the person that sent me a PM had been on the forum for a couple of months. When I looked for his posts, there were 3 of them and all from this morning. All were on liners and one of them made no sense at all. My PM came from him immediately after the 3 posts.

Sure looks suspicious. I'm hoping it's just a newbie to the list trying to figure out how the forum works, but........... beware!

Posting a few times although unrelated and nonsensical to appear legit. Checking and making an assessment of their postings was smart.

Yeah if you dint have 200+ post I’m not a buyer. And they better be serious posts not just Willy Billy responses . I’d rather miss out on a deal than get scammed .

I posted a want ad for a Carter carb today with my phone number.I got two reply’s today.I asked for their PY screen name and told them to send me a PM on PY.they did not text me pics and no screen name and no PM.They are out there waiting to bilk someone out of some money.FWIW,Tom

I wouldn't post my phone number, that's all crooks need today.

That's likely to lead to a greatly increased # of spam calls.

Yup just had 2 messages on my Wanted add, My old man has one of those, email him. Delete.
Jay z has one please email him, Delete, both with 0 Posts.

If you're getting these messages from PY members, please let the moderators know their screen names so we can ban them.

Sorry Stuart, thought about that after I deleted them. Next time I will get the name.

That scammer was a bit smarting, used an automotive type screen name.
