Anyone own a rotisserie? What brand? Are the cheaper ones OK?

I bought a $800 one off eBay about 7 years ago. Rebuilt my 71 bird on it. I had no issues. I’m sure the more expensive ones with gearboxes and hand cranks for rotation and bearings instead of just shafts in tubes with grease would make rotating it easier, but I managed just fine.

I had the same as the Summit Racing one (It was actually made locally at a place called Twinsburg Fab. Pretty sure I got it for $800 or $900 about 15 years ago. They are $1400 now from Summit. I ended up designing and building my own and sold off the summit one for a small profit. If you are rolling it around your shop it will be fine. If you want to trailer the car on it I would beef it up. I will say that auto rotisseries sell pretty well and you can usually re-coupe most of your money.

At school we bought a Titan Lifts 4500. It has 6 casters (4 on the ends and 2 in the center) and large wheels for any surface. Very sturdy and stable. Comes with a lot of adapters to mount the car. I drilled the all tubing so that the set screws go through to lock the tubes in place. Just makes it safer for the kids. We're building a Mustang on it right now.

I got Redwing Plans on net and built my own from their detailed
'Free' plans.

Just ordered ROT3000LD from Redline. Looks like a decent unit for my use. $1400.00 which seems pretty cheap, hopefully it works out.

Auto Twirler is generally considered one of the best in the business, but the hoop style intrigued me!

Many of the "spit" restorations I have done, I used one that a good friend of mine had. We shared many pieces of equipment between our two shops. Now since he has gotten much busier over the last few years, if I need one I will probably buy another Auto Twirler

This is mine after it survived a catastrophic shop fire. Its nothing fancy, I built it myself from some stuff I had laying around and about $300 in material. A couple of long rams from TSC. Not really pretty but it did the job perfectly. I put the extra 1,000 into my car! Funny thing was I was looking forward to using it. I only had the car on it for about a month and half and was finished with that part of the restor process. Very limited use for a product over the length of my restoration. I 'loaned' it to a buddy for his use and kinda told him he could have it as I no longer had a use for it. To my surprise (and a bit of disappointment) he brought it back.

A friend of mine's dad bought a 66 Chevy 2 to build. He wanted to get at the floors but had a small budget. So this is what he did using wood. It stayed like this for a couple weeks while he worked on it. He built it with the car on jackstands, then rolled it on its side.
