Does anyone reproduce the 74-75 rear muffler hanger rubbers?

I have an NOS pair in the GM boxes. PM me if interested.

Just to close the loop on this in case anyone else is looking for them.

They are specific to 74 and 75 Firebirds (but were also used on the same year Camaros and Novas). As of this post they are not reproduced. I was able to pick up some NOS ones.

I have an exhaust upgrade in my near future for my '74.

What could be so specific about them and could the exhaust shop not mock something up?

You could definitely fab something up - they are just there to hold the muffler hanger 'L' brackets in place and insulate them from rubbing/banging against the brackets that mount to the floor. I believe you could also replace the entire hanger with the later style hangers - and those are reproduced.

My car currently has stock manifolds (non ram-air) with Pypes downpipes and a Flowmaster 'American Thunder' system. I've tried to keep the original mounts and hangers in place as my long term plan is to replace the entire system with a Gardner (or similar) replica of the original one.

If I'm going from a custom dual back to the dual/transverse would my muffler guy still need these for ease of installation?

The type shown of GM are the transverse type, one on each end. If new exhaust is similar in location then the existing mounts or mounting points will likely still work. Aftermarket also create similar, an exhaust shop would know of many variations that would work.

If your car no longer has the transverse muffler, then the original hangers and brackets may be gone. You can try and track the parts down, go with the later reproductions, or have your exhaust installer fab something up.

In the diagram in that post parts 1,2,3 and 4 make up the hanger for the transverse muffler (one on each side).

Ya definitely long gone.

I'd like to review the exhaust hangers that The Parts Place Inc. offers for sale.

First off. the kit is more for a 1970-3 Firebird. While the rear hanger will bolt up, the size is wrong and I don't know if it will have the exhaust positioned in the correct place. The insolators are fixed in the hanger, so no repop is available. The 1970-3 front insolator was PN 3996318, 1974-5 was 340364. The only difference is, is the '70-3 slopes to 0.645" in one area while the '74-5 is straight across. The repop is the '74-5 variation. Unfortunately, they are not for sale individually. And, the price of the kit is very high for just the insolators.

A cheaper alternative would be just ordering a OER drivers and/or passengers side hanger.

Close to the price of NOS pieces nowadays, unless someone selling for a reasonable price. Shipping would be the killer though, as well as supply.

Thanks for digging deeper. It is odd that the folks reproducing the complete mounts don't offer the rubber isolators separately.
