72 trans am rear spoiler install
 

I just had my car painted and going to install the rear spoilers. I was going to possibly apply some primer in the bolt hole mounts to protect the paint. Should there be something placed between the spoiler and the trunk around the edges of the spoiler? I was thinking the paint may rub off over time? Thoughts recommendations?

The paint will not rub off if the pieces are secured snug with the washered nuts. Just make sure you use dumb dumb calk around each hole on the outside to keep water out of the trunk. 3M makes it. If you don't have a local auto paint store try auto zone.

I think it is called 3M Strip Caulk. But do as Jeff said.

Aftah drilling...I’d mix up a wee bit of Epoxy primah. Say 10 drop epoxy 5 drop activator...mix well with touch up brush...and apply that to the drilled hole. Let dry ,then follow as above with the 3M strip caulking

There were compressible sealing washers inserted between the spoiler and trunk lid, there was also caulking sealant added to the washers of the nuts on the inside.
