Who is an affordable and quality chrome shop? This is for trim parts and not bumpers
Thanks

What area of the country?

GMCM76 04-03-2023 07:21 PM

I am located in central Illinois near Peoria

Finishing Touch in Illinois, AIH Chrome out of Dubuque, Iowa, D&S Plating out of Holyoke, Mass. These are who I always use. Always pleased, you get what you pay for. Cheap/Affordable does not always equal quality. Pay good money once and be done.

There is no affordable, lol. Fini finish in the D does the best.

The Finishing Touch, great work but you pay for it.

How is D&S in Holyoke? That’s not far from. E and I’ve never heard of the.m before this thread.

Is it show chrome? I have 2 bumpers I’d have done because I could drive them there.

Advanced plating in Tennessee is the best. They do as good a job
as the Finishing Touch for less money. They have the largest chrome plating
facility in the United States..........and for good reason.

Just out of curiosity, how much to have ,say, a bumper rechromed, assuming it is in good shape, just shoddy chrome. $500, $1000, $2500? What’s a ballpark.

Cant say on the costs of a "shoddy" plating job, as shops I've used used over the years all used a high quality triple plating process.

Total price of replating depends on on the size & complexity of the shape of the bumper, as well as if damage to the bumper is significant, or minor or if it's a perfect core. Some shops "show quality" is what gets them a reputation of providing a true cutting edge national show quality triple plating job. I've found other shops can on a perfect shape bumper core, provide a result that is indistinguishable from the results of one of the "top" plating shops in the country. It's when you start dealing with very hard to replace bumper cores that have deep scrapes or gouges on peak lines, that's where it bothers me to send such a danaged core to what amounts to a much lower priced plating shop whose craftsman often tend to reshape then grind some of the definition out of the effected peak line area.

No, not shoddy work. I’m saying how much to chrome a good condition bumper, needing no repairs, just shoddy chrome before it’s worked on.
Everyone says it’s “expensive”, so what is expensive?

Has Advanced started taking work again? They were shut down after the fire destroyed their old facility.
