Hood Dimension Question

I purchased a fiberglass hood for my 71 Trans am project and need some help on a dimension. The hood came with pre-drilled hood hinge mounts, much like the steel hood. So, when I mounted the hood on the hood hinges it was 1/2" shy of reaching matching the fenders. I cant slide the hood any further forward. I am assuming the fiberglass hood bolt hole locations were drilled incorrectly by exactly 1"
Could someone measure their 2nd hood hinge mount to the end of their hood? My hood hinge pre-drilled mount is approximately 38" to the end of the hood when I hold the tape measure in a straight line from the hole, but it appears I need that to be 39" +.

what brand is the hood?

i just measured 2 of my 2nd gen hoods, 1 is a 70-75 VFN fiberglass formula hood & one is a original 1981 steel turbo hood. both of them measure ~39" from center line of forward bolt hole.

looks like yours may have been made too short, id call the company to see what they can do. you could possibly elongate the slots on the hood hinge if there is enough metal to get it to line up better.

Unfortunately the first slot would need to be elongated to much. Not enough metal. I was thing of making an adaptor. Thanks for measuring yours that helps alot

Sorry, forgot to include: the brand is Unlimited, www.racingfiberglass.com. I have put in a call to them and emailed them with the dimensions. They are going to look in to it. I went ahead and elongated the front and back holes on the hood hinges and will try a big washer in the front to hold the hood in place. The front hole had to be elongated to the end and now its got an open end. I am assuming the washer will be sufficient but have not put the hood back on yet.

Add about an extra inch of material to the front of the hinges, sometimes hot rodding requires a little cutting and welding. :)
