77/78 rear bumper cover
Can anyone tell the specs or point me in the right direction on the rear cover. The 10 screws/bolts that connect the rear cover to the rear reinforcement bar? I'm cannot find anything at AMK products or any of the suppliers. I'm putting together a rear bumper assembly that was taken apart before my ownership. All I have is some broken screws left in the top and bottom of the bar with the heads removed. Does not have to be 100% correct but want to get close to org. appearance.

1978 Rear Bumper Cover
If I remember correctly, my 1978 Trans Am rear bumper cover did not have screws or bolts. It used large diameter "pop rivets" to fasten to the bottom to the steel beam.

They are riveted from the factory.

77 and earlier cars used a steel reinforcement bar and something like number 12 size coarse screws. Beginning in 78 steel rivets were used.

Another one for rivets, but certainly won't be going back that way. I tapped out the bumper, and got low-profile dome bolts with washers to spread the clamping force. Bumper can now be assembled and pulled apart as often as wanted and also allow room for adjustment somewhat.

Thanks all for responses. The rear bumper cover on my car (77), from new....has never looked right. As it has aged it has this pebbly cottage cheese look on the surface. I got a used one the has a small tear in it. Looking forward to repairing it, and installing it!!!
