50 years ago tonight!
 

50 years ago tonight I signed an order form for 1 Admiralty Blue 1974 Trans Am with the SD 455 and auto. $100.00 down! Total price $ 5368.18. Car came in March of 1974. I was in college Dec 1972 reading Popular Hot Rodding about the SD455. Who knew. I still feel very fortunate and humble. My wife 'never', even when we were arguing, said sell the SD. So that's another reason I feel fortunate. After her passing ,I said thanks dear!

Those where great times with great memories, and unfortunately things will never be that way again.

If we don’t gather together and stop these city’s and states with implementing these emissions free zones then soon we will only be able to drive our cars on our own driveways!

A friend of mine bought one new just like yours, blue with auto trans. It was a heck of a car.

You are certainly a lucky guy. Being the right age and with the resources to buy an iconic car like that. Very, very special.

I just started at Kennametal in Sept 1973. Lowly tool and die designer,draftsman. When I heard availability of the SD I wanted one. Checked local Pontiac dealer Sendell motors. I still have estimate sheets for Formula and TA. I didn't think I could afford TA. Anyway got prices checked Kennametal CU they said OK. I went to Constantin Pontiac in East Liberty. My friend Jim Miller who raced Pontiacs worked there. Sooo everything feel into line. I ordered car from them. What I didnt know Jim told me later. I told salesman if car came in as std 455 I didnt want it. After I signed order form salesman thought i couldnt afford SD so he made it a std 455. Jim said owner and son knew i wanted SD so they changed order back to SD. Whew!

quite a few years ago I saw an SD parked next to a guard shack of a jobsite on east coast of Fla.
I asked the guard if he knew whos it was.... It was his and he bought it new.

I've always lived in Latrobe except 2 yrs in Pittsburgh. I've never really modified car. Just carb and distributor mods.
