Posting for sale an engine I was putting together to run in my 1979 Trans Am while my 455 was at the machine shop. Unfortunately I found some damage to my car that needs to be addressed asap and by the time I get it sorted my 455 will be done and ready to go.

I will do my best to describe the engine as accurately as possible. I have many pictures of the disassembly for anyone who has anything specific they would like to see.

I purchased the engine last year from a local speed shop. The engine was removed from a 67 GTO several years ago to replace with a SBC (I know, yuck!) and the owner never came back to pick it up. It sat in a corner in the shop for many years.

According to the shop, when removed the only known issue was a bent pushrod. Upon disassembly, I found no other issues. The engine is a standard bore and completely original short block as far as I could tell. I did not tear down the short block and left the original rotating assembly untouched. Once I determined the short block appeared free of any defect my goal was to disassemble, inspect, and put it back together as cost effectively as possible. I replaced/installed the following:

Clevite camshaft bearings
Summit 2802 camshaft
Melling M54DS oil pump
BOP Engineering two piece rear main seal
BOP Engineering one piece oil pan seal
Melling Freeze Plugs

The original 670 heads were given a good scrub down while they were off the short block. The rocker studs were replaced with 7/16 studs, the valve stem seals replaced with Fel-Pro seals, valve springs were swapped out to Comp Cams 988-16 double springs, and for rocker arms we went with Comp Cams Magnum roller rocker arms with high energy pushrod kit. The heads were bolted back on using Felpro 8518PT head gaskets and stock replacement head bolts.

Once everything was back together I wire wheeled and scrubbed the engine down and hit it with engine primer and three coats of Pontiac blue. It's not a show finish by any means, but looks great for the driver I was aiming for.

I put the distributer and coil that came with the engine back on for photos but I have no idea how good they are, also note that the intake is not actually installed at this time, just sitting on top. No carb came with the engine so I don't have that. No oil filter housing came with the engine but there is a chrome fuel pump of unknown condition.

I will include the cam that came with the engine, I assume it is the original, as well as the original exhaust manifolds. I also have a bin full of front drive accessories that came already removed from the engine the buyer is welcome to. There are some AC components in the bin as well.
