AC 6550 Fuel Pump, rebuild or buy a new Carter?

I have a stock, non-running '64 GTO with an AC 6550 fuel pump. Should I consider rebuilding it or go with a new Carter? NOT a concourse build! Will I gain efficiency with the Carter?
