The small fonts 5 Qts looks like the 9793342 1968-on rod.

6 Qts were used on 1967 engines (and 1966 as a service replacement).

5 Qts on all others.

My '67 GTO with AC has the 6 QTS. and long handle as yours. It's just longer.

This is what I have, keep in mind I am not the original owner to these cars. Top one is my 70 with a 9C date from Arlington. Bottom is my 69 with a 11D from Baltimore. Hope this helps a little bit. Good Luck, Marc.

X2. Have three known '67 dipsticks, all have
the same stamping and long handle, except
one is longer for AC.

Scott, My 69 RA Judge has the holes. That is the original stick, and it was the same stick in my first Judge. Both cars are/were originals. I didn't measure the length but both cars are non-air!!

isn't that top 5 quart one a later dipstick?

I cannot recall if it was a 73 or 77 engine that I had it in, but I know I had one of those in an engine;
I recall this because it actually broke the end off at the first hole below the add arrow...

They didn't have (or use) SE oil until around 74 or so? (bottom one)

:confused:

I´d say the bottom rod #9793342 is the current SR rod for 1968-on Pontiac V8´s

Timeline for API specs:

Thanks for the chart Kenth, little earlier than I remember. Of course probably didn't use SE until 74? (cheapskate)

:D
