69 Fender Emblem Reproduction Fitment
I'm having an issue with the center stud on the reproduction fender emblems not aligning with my originals that is going to force either drastic actions on already painted fenders or alternative mounting arrangements. I only found one reference to this being an issue on here and one review on OPGI that also mentioned this. Is this a known issue with the reproductions that no one talks about or was this corrected at some point? I bought these around 3 years ago.
Thanks, Dan |
Try ordering the GTO fender emblems from Ames....in my experience
they are identical to the originals in every way. |
Shaking my head here.
Did they at least get the spelling right? |
I'm dealing with this same issue right now. The reproduction does not fit correct. I'm in the process of restoring my originals now.

Guessing you have to use a repop fender for the repop emblem ,,, just kidding.
Sorry to hear they are being an issue . |
Ream out the hole with a round file. It doesn't take much to make it fit. I just went through this with my 69.

Thanks for the feedback, at least I'm not the only one to have come across this. From what I've seen across two sets now, the current reproductions have the center stud located 60 thousandths lower on the emblem versus what came off my car causing the issue.

Remember to paint the bar body color (something even a lot of really well done cars fail to have done). Also the surefire way to spot repro fender emblems once installed is the white paint in the letter insets. Factory paint was Cameo White (a stock body color) and the repro uses a bright white. Once you've seen it you can never unsee it!
