Safety kleen parts washer ?
 

I have an old Safety Kleen parts washer Model 17.3 C, serial no 59581.
I have never changed the sock filter in the drain cause don’t know what I need. Have had a couple from McMaster Carr but size was off.

Anybody have any idea what a correct substitute would be for this felt like bag filter?

Not to hijack but this is what I did on my Graymills washer. I plumbed the output of the pump to a rubber line, to a remote oil filter adapter bolted to the machine. Then the outlet of the oil filter adapter to my parts cleaner metal flex hose. Works great and keeps the solvent much cleaner. Easy to spin off and change. That might be an option for you.

I have a Safety Kleen parts washer that I picked up at the dump 30 years ago. The kind that sits inside a 20 gallon grease pail.

The drain filter was in bad shape so I improvised with a large soup can. Punched holes all around the sides and tywrapped the plastic flange piece that was on the filter bag around the can. When I run the washer, the liquid drips into the can and out the holes in the sides, and the crap slowly builds up in the bottom.

I rarely use it nowadays, seems the solvent goes bad and gets very smelly after about a year of sitting, even with the lid closed. So bad that I need to wear a respirator when I do use it, and have to change my clothes after.

Yes, Uses a PH8a, the big Ford filter. They are dirt cheap. (no pun intended)
