Non Pontiac (Corvair) Carb Part Needed

I foolishly agreed to rebuild a pair of 1964 Corvair one barrel carbs. The NAPA kits contain accelerator pumps, but without springs and retainers. One of the pumps in the two carbs is missing the spring and retainer.

I have dozens for retainers and various springs for Rochester carbs, but these Corvair carbs use a much smaller pump.

Does anyone have these parts or suggest where I might find them?.

https://californiacorvairparts.com/

Noticed that they offer a book on Corvair carbs and likely can sell the parts needed as well.

Carb springs, looks like they have the ones you need.

They even sell rebuilt carbs. Honestly you should just tell the customer you decided not to do it, put their carbs back together and give them back.

Thanks, b-man for the info.

I have the rebuild complete except for the pump spring. The carbs turned out well, using the NAPA rebuild kits, but, as with many kits today, the accelerator pumps are supplied without springs. I did find a spring in my Tri-Power parts that fits, but the retainer needed is smaller.

I may find a used pump with the correct spring and retainer from the info you posted.

Rebuilding these two one barrel carbs took about as long as a complete Tri-Power. I am beyond the point of no return, however.

I'll post pictures of the completed beauties!!

I’m sure they’ll be the best 2 Corvair carbs ever.

I sure am happy with the Tri-Power carbs you did for me over a decade ago that are on my ‘64 421 HO. :)

Good to hear. I have done carbs for about six 421 HO's through the years. So far, so good!

I use Clarks Corvair parts in Mass. I recently built a reverse rotation 140 based corvair engine with a holley sniper 2300. It was a fun project.
