Added a mid plate
 

I added a mid plate, how do i add to the snout so it fits inside the crank again?

There are extensions available. I think TCI sells them

If you do it yourself you can cut a washer or a piece of plate the same thickness as your mid plate on a lathe the same dia as your converter pilot and plug weld it in. And add some flat ground washers the same thickness to your converter bolts.
But be very careful, that metal on the converter is not very thick. I made up all the parts and burned a hole thought he converter welding it. I assumed it was thicker.
So, sent it off to PTC for them to fix, sat there for over a week before they opened it up. I asked for a removable one like TCI sells but got a welded washer when I paid for a removable one. Sent it back, they put a removable one it BUT.... welded the washers to the converter, Now if I want to take the mid plate out I have to deal with that.
And anyway the converter did not pull up to the flexplate without a .120 washer and with that washer I did not have a 1/8" front to back movement. So I did not trust it on my new engine , afraid of wiping out the thrust bearing.
So the TCI that I bought with a removable ring is in the car for the rest of the year. Sick of dealing with it. I will sort it out after the season.
But the PTC was a great converter. Just wish I could feel good about using it.

Thanks for the tips. I contacted PTC but never got a response. I have the All Pontiac midplate so it comes with washers for the converter pads. Maybe I'll try to make an extension out of trimmed off section of the midplate or look into buying an extension.

I did my own using a few thick grade 8 washers and welded them on. Made the washers the 1.7" outer diameter and welded them on one at a time on the inside of the washer. Centered them with an ls adapter a buddy had. Did this years ago and no problems to date.

I believe the All Pontiac mid plate is 1/4". TCI sells a 1/4" kit. So does PTC.
BUT, if you send your converter I would ask them to NOT weld the converter bolt spacer-washers to the converter. Leave them loose so you can remove them if you want.
And if you do weld it remember that that piece of steel is THIN. Maybe .060, its sheet metal.
So, .023 wire turned down low. I would start my weld on the washer and just dab it down to the converter and stop. Repeat until done, be careful.
You do not want to see the inside of your converter like I did. PTC did put a new bearing in for me but its been a big pain.
