Th 350 kick down with 4bbl
Hey everyone it's been a while since I posted. 3 months ago I tore into my 69 bird to detail the engine compartment and put some stuff back to factory.
Well that turned into a new frame, new floor and cowl etc. pretty much a Restoration minus paint. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how/ where the th350 kick down cable mount to the 4bbl q jet. I think I'm missing the correct (arm) that mounts to the carb. It only has a provision for the throttle cable. Does anyone have a picture of how the throttle cable and kick down cable mount to the carb? If I had some idea of what it looked like it would be helpful so I can try to find one at Norwalk. Here are a couple pics of the re pop cable bracket and carb linkage. Thanks for any help. I'll start a new threat about my over all progress.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...addd2d7c00.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...eb9e74d482.jpg Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk |
Looking in the factory assembly manual it only shows V8 with 2bbl. No diagram of V8 4bbl.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8c70725484.jpg

Anyone know why the factory assembly manual only shows a kick down cable for a 2bbl V8 and not a 4bblAttachment 636286

I think the 4bbl got the TH400. (and AC with 350 2bbl).
Probably have to make your own extension for the linkage. Or a 2bbl or 6 cyl (Sprint?) extension may be made to work? It needs to pull the cable when throttle is being opened. |

The TH350 kickdown cable on my 70 LeMans comes off the gas pedal, not the carb linkage. Maybe that's the same on a Firebird?

As per factory literature the TH350 transmission option on 69 Firebird was restricted to OHC6 and non AC 350 2bbl. 350 2bbl w/AC, 350 4bbl and all 400's had the TH400 as the only automatic offered. That being said it seems that some AC 350 2bbl cars very late in the model year did get the TH350 instead of the TH400.

Kick down switch on the TH350 is on the transmission with a cable coming from the gas pedal area (A-B-G body) or intake manifold bracket (F body). The kick down switch on the TH400 is electric and it mounts on the gas pedal area (A-B-G) and intake bracket (F body).
