Is there an easy way to tell if my Rally 2's will clear the common 11" disc brake?
 

Before I get too far along in my '67 - and not wanting Norwalk to get away from me in case the parts land - Is there an easy/common way to tell if my 14's will clear disc brakes?

Original owner had the good taste to add a correct Wide Ovan bias ply (about 15 years ago) on Rally 2's. Car looks vintage, and good. Good ride, but with the old power steering directional stablity leaves much to be desired. A swap to redline radials will happen soon.

OO was not sure about the origin of the IIs only that he got them from the same place as the tires, which I presume was Coker. I know he was not digging in boneyards or swap meets.

Knowing the correct Rallys are year specific and spendy as he** is there an easy tell to know the wheels on the car will be keepers with the common disc conversion to come this winter?

I may not know what I am talking about, but if those are 14" rims I don't think they will fit aftermarket disc brakes. Are there any numbers or anything stamped on the wheels, either around the valve stem or on the back? I had original 14" rims on my 67 and has to space them out from the hub to clear the disc brakes when I added them.

Really want to do the factory conversion with the common and bulletproof GM parts. There were a zillion cars built with the 4 3/4" bolt circle 14" Rally IIs, not being super picky about year to year variations.

I’m sure the early 14x6 wheels could be drum brake only, some later ones were made to clear disc brake calipers.

If they’re 14x7 they’re disc brake compatible using factory brakes.

I’m sure if you were to remove the trim rings and take pictures of the numbers stamped next to the valve stems and tell us what size the wheels are you could probably get a better response to your questions.

Saw a set of JAs at Norwalk, but I couldn't recall if they were the disc brake wheels or not.

While I'd like to have the proper code wheels, as long as they are R2's with the right paint, lugs caps and rings, I'm good.

JA could work on early disc brakes like 67-69 I think. But don't think they will fit on newer brakes like on 2nd Gen Birds?


Most had to be 14 x 7 Rally to work on them.
