49-52 or early to mid 60’s Catalina
The car I was supposed to go look at next weekend sold today. The search is back on.
I really like the 49-52 body style, if it has an updated drivetrain. Also love the Catalina’s from the late 50’s to mid 60’s. Non A/C cars are actually a bonus, but functioning A/C would be considered. That crap is always in the way and I never use it! Prefer an automatic transmission No rust buckets or projects. A solid car with patina is OK, frame and panel rot, nope! Midwest location. If I can make a day trip out of it, cool. No 6 cylinder cars. Have something that doesn’t fit the description, but’s cool? It doesn’t hurt to ask! PM me or post Some edits. This car is going to be driven! Rock chips , dings scratches not a big deal. Need wipers, lights, and functioning fan to keep windows clear. I’ll consider a roller if price is appropriate . |
A guy posted this ‘65 Catalina for sale on the GTO forum a couple days ago. Don’t know if it’s legit, he’s not a member (so buyer beware), but he did leave his contact info.
https://www.gtoforum.com/threads/196...2#post-1018672 I had a ‘64 Catalina years ago, I used it as a daily driver. Bought it from the original owner. Probably smoothest vehicle and engine I’ve ever had, really like the lines on those. |

Not too far. I just called and spoke to the owners dad. It’s a non running 4 door. He’s supposed to get pics to me in a day or two. A 4 door brings it way down on my list, but he didn’t mention that in his ad over on the GTO site. I can’t edit my first post now, so just winging it I guess. No 4 doors unless it’s an exceptionally clean car. :) |
Non-running 4-door?
Parts car at best honestly and he should be practically giving it away unless it’s pretty cherry and has been kept indoors. The TH400 was introduced in 1965, the earlier cars had lousy automatic transmissions so unless you’re into not all that that straght-forward swapping for a better one stick to 1965. |
