New to me 74 Trans Am
I just made a deal on a 74 TA. I have been looking since loosing all my parts and tools (fire) for a "completed" car. I got a call last night, from Smittyseng, that he saw his friends car on a website for sale. It's a very nice NOM 455/4speed white/Saddle car and has been in a few local shows. I don't have pics at the moment and the seller is also a member here, but he probably hangs out with the SD crowd. I have not had a running 2nd Gen in quite a few years so this should be fun.!

Lets see if this works. It currently has Ralley II wheels.

Oh very nice...I haven't seen that saddle interior before, at least on white...gotta be rare

Good looking TA! :) |
What so it is not a numbers matching car or is it? I question it due to the fact that in 74 you could not have a 455 with 4 spd except as a LS2 car.
|
Not a numbers car. It was originally an L78/M40 car, the past owner made it to his desires and cloned it to an LS2/ M20 car and had a little fun doing some drag racing stock class. For the sale he took the SD stuff off an cloned a L75 engine. The past owner is very knowledgeable an the car shows great. Some of these cars had a lot of configs in 50 years.

Great car enjoy it. Don’t sweat it not being a numbers car most of the time they are a lot more fun that way. Much more enjoyable not being rare too .

I.m probably going to drive as is, but am considering efi. Problem is, it looks so perfect under the hood, I hate to mess it up.

Excellent! Great looking car! Good for you!

I like the honeycomb wheels. Later this year I hope to start a renovation of my 74 350 Formula 4 spd. This is my original car that I ordered the end of my senior year in HS. Only problem was when I went to to dealership the first thing on the order sheet was LS2 engine that I wanted. Being 17 at the time dad had sigh the paperwork in his name so out went the engine and in went the 350 4 spd. Now I will build a SD engine that I had Nunzi help do the heads and machine the 455 block.

If you wanna mess up a good thing, install EFI.

After driving the car a bit, and realizing it drives like a car of the 70's would, its time to mix things up a bit. To put things in perspective, my other car is a very original 2000 WS6 T/A.
-Solid body mounts and subframe connectors from Global West. -Cowl to frame braces with crossbar from PTFB. That, plus minor details here an there, will keep me busy for a while. |
All straight lines here but I agree...suspension upgrades are always welcome
My buddy is running Hotchkis on his 81 but my to-do list is way too long before I get to that level...lol...good luck |
