When it rains......
I just closed my garage door and it came off the track and is barely hanging on over my 67GTO, And, with Helene coming in all the local shops have sent their employees home.
I finally got one shop that said they would contact a worker and send him over to stabilize the door until tomorrow. |
When it rains it pours so to speak..... I hope it works out for you. Definitely a crappy situation.

I was replacing a heat pump at my buddy's dads hose 15 years ago. My buddy's dad, Chalie, was just starting to replace his garage door. I told him about my brother in law, Mike has been doing garage doors for years, its all he's ever done. No I will handle it he says....OK. About 1 I hear some screaming, he cut his arm real bad with a sawzall. The ER patches him up and he comes back, his son and I put up some plywood. So I'm there next Saturday and he's got the door done. Cool, he opens the door for me to go into the basement and the door falls onto his 99 Corvette and 2003 Superglide. 1/4 and decklid badly damaged on the Corvette and the tank is dented and the seat ripped on the bike. My jaw hit the floor! I gave him my bro in laws number right there.
So hopefully it didn't damage the goat and everything works out except for being a little lighter in the wallet. |
Phil, if wind exposure is a factor, don't have it covered. Wind will beat the cover and damage the paint. Good luck to you!

I hope you don't get any storm damage.

I got lucky. I called several shops and finally talked to a live person. He was just fixing to leave. Anyway he sent a crew over and they fixed the door. Then, I got lucky again. The storm shifted about 60 miles to the east and I didn't get any damage.Only lost power briefly. I feel sorry for those that did get hit.

I just went thru the same thing with my garage door. But no hurricane was involved. Everything is new seeing it was 25 to 30 years old. Seeing I had the torsion bar, I had the motor unit that bolts to the end of it added instead to the track down the center. What a Hugh difference, and well worth the money Even the door is now insulated with the metal facing inside too, About 3600.00 for everything. And best of all the motor is guaranteed for life.
I hope your door made it thru the hurricane safely. |

When I had the door installed in 1998 I went with the insulated one. Other than one motor change about a year ago the door has been problem free. |
