Late Built 1969 Judges
 

I know a guy who has a 69 Judge built at Atlanta plant dated 08B ( August 2nd wk). PHS documented.

Anyone out there with a 69 Judge built later than that?

I had seen July built Judges but not August .

I have been told some plants changeover to 70 were later than others.

Interesting.

My Arlington car is 6/30 which I thought was late. Never heard of a August built car let alone a July. Would like to see that phs.

I think I have about 5 that have a Aug shipped date, more with late July date.
Not sure if I have all the cowl tag pics?

Is the VIN around A13xxxx?

Well maybe mines just late for the Arlington plant or for being a vert? Just going off what I have heard from other pontiac guys.

I always thought that August 1 was the date that the assembly line started on the next model year? Guess that myth has been busted! My Judge was assembled at the Fremont, CA plant the 1st week of July 1969. cowl tag reads 07A.

It varies based on model year and plant.

This is what Gunnell's catalog shows for start/stop dates (no plant is specified).

Also - keep in mind the cowl tag date code is specific to the body build. The chassis build and ship date is some time (days or weeks) later.

Hey John, it looks like the car I bought in Georgia about 15 years ago sold it to a guy near New York City who had it fully restored ,liberty blue with parchment interior ,automatic RAIV !

So what exactly was going on between 7/16 and 8/11? I assume they were finishing up pre-ordered vehicles & getting the line ready to build the next year's model?

Yearly changeover which would take 3 weeks give or take a few days. For the majority of the assembly plants this would also involve Chevy, Buick and Olds models at the same time

Liberty Parchment Auto with a 4spd conversion.

I was mildly interested in it at the time , but not sure it was this exact same car.

Changing over to the new models:

Moving old production material out and new material in.

Any updates to lines or conveyors, or replacing large equipment.

General annual maintenance, like painting the guard rails and bollards, resealing the wood blocks in the floors, repainting any lines on the floors, working down the inventory of repair vehicles still in the yard, etc.
