Restoring Seat Belts

I'm planning on having the original seat belts of my '67 Firebird re-webbed. I found this company, Safetyrestore, that will re-web belts and sew on the original labels for $99.99 per belt, any color. They say a 24 hour turn around. Anyone use them?

I know Snnake-Oyl does this but have an 8-10 week turnaround.

No experience w that particular vendor. There are at least 7 different vendors rewebbing automotive seatbelts PLUS quite a few specializing in seatbelts for airplanes. Off too of my head, these are ones I have knowledge of. Only have direct experience with 3 of them...

If you want anywhere close to the correct appearance, I would ask for a small sample of the webbing, offer to pay to have it mailed to you. .Not only are several of these seatbelt "resto" shops selling the wrong panel design webbing, and the reproduction webbing is a thinner material.

In looking at your original seatbelts, make sure the latch covers & backs are not damaged or rust pitted/pocked. A few seatbelt restoration sources, after dissassembling the latch & retractors, will replate the chrome backs & polish or replace the front covers before rewebbing. Years ago, to restore most seatbelts, one had to source the very nicest used latchs, chrome backs, male ends, anchor tabs. Today, it's a different game, with many reproduction components available for the most popular late 60's-early 70's GM usage seatbelts.

Tough to beat Snake Oyle. I had mine rewebbed and they reconditioned the buckles. And it is period correct webbing. I would recommend you confirm if the 100 per belt is for both sections per passenger or is it 100 per section making it 200 per passenger.

I needed seat belts restored for a Camel Tan interior (79 TA). I shopped a bit, including some of the vendors that OPH mentioned, and ended up going with Ssnake-Oyl. They were the only vendor with webbing that matched the original belts. I shipped my old belts to them 2 months ago, and UPS just delivered them to me today. They look great, they did exactly what I asked for...overall very satisfied. Be aware that communication with them is kind of sketchy up front, but things go smoothly after you send in the belts for inspection...you tell them what you want and they deliver.
