I always wanted one of those 1/12 scale 73 TA models, but damn they're expensive. I look at the price and decide that money is better spent on real TAs lol

That Doyusha one I wanted back in the mid 80s, was 70 some dollars IIRC. Too rich for a 16 yo.

I did snag the 1/8 scale monogram turbo t/a, for like half the cost.

I seem to remember last seeing that one, assembled, with the tell tale wafts of burning firecracker fuse coming from under the hood.

I have one of the Otaki 1/12 73 TA’s unassembled in the bags. Unfortunately the tires have disintegrated. Working on figuring out how to 3D print a set.

I bought one of the 1/12 '73 T/As "back in the day". Never opened it, and around the time eBay originally launched, I decided I'd probably never build it. So auctioned it. I got what seemed like crazy money to me at the time, but I don't remember what it was now.

Farmers car had a 427 on it?

Many of the ship models I built as a kid met a similar fiery explosive fate......

What a cool site

I used to collect and build models and chased many of these for years.
When prices started to get ridiculous I stopped and sold off most of them years ago.
It was fun while it lasted.

Jeff, I like those '73 and '74 Firebird ones.

That one is/was a HTF kit and that price isn't far off from what I paid in the 80's.
That's the 1st release, the 2nd release came out repackaged(Check out the Box Art/Date) :)

It didn't come with the battery op motor like the first.
I bought that at my local hobby shop (Remember Those)

Then ran it into the wall and it suffered some damage :(
think I still have it put away.

Nice work! That’s definitely one of the things I’m miss most since I retired… access to the 3D printers at work! Made a lot of nice replacement parts for my cars and other things around the house over the years!

I would mow a lawn and go buy a model. Crazy how much the same kits are at hobby lobby
