Disc Brake Kit
 

I'm thinking of installing front disc brakes, any recommendations on which one to get? I see that a lot of them are made in China.

Following. I too would like to hear some comments. I would like to retain my 14 inch rally wheels. I’ve seen those that uses the existing spindles with bolt on caliper brackets….

If you looking for a stock style disc brake kit. I would find good used spindles and calliper brackets off Ebay to work with and get the rest from like speedway motors.

There are options from using the factory drum spindle with different brackets, to new disc brake spindles.

In order to keep your factory 14" wheels, plan on grinding the outer edge of the calipers to clearance the wheel hoops. Unless you can find original calipers, all of the D52 repops contain a flashing and parting line ridge in the casting that will interfere with most 14" wheels.

Depending on the kit you go with, you may also need to trim the top part of the caliper bracket.

It can be done though, just need to break out some cutoff wheels and grinders.

I've used MP Brakes and Right Stuff Detailing. The MP brakes stuff feels superior to me, but everything is using Chinese origin repop parts now, so I'm not certain how much it matters.

I went with Aerospace Components a few decades back now. Serving me well. They had a kit using stock drum spindles, not sure if they still do.

I went with a full setup from Wilwood converting my 67 to 4 wheel disk. I'm running 17" rims so I went with larger disk and I'm very happy with them.

I purchased the Right Stuff Kit to convert the front drums to Disc on my 1969 and their kit works great! You retain the original drum spindles and the kit includes everything you need. I did not have to do any grinding on anything and I retained my 14x7 rally two wheels. Good luck.
