Reproduction Bellhousing

Has anyone installed the Ames repo bellhousing? How well is it made?
how good did it dial in for Parallel and centered to crank?

Thanks, Dave

I would use a GM unit , repo parts world is on the poor side of quality & fit

Took your advice Paul.
I found one on Ebay , coming next week. Hope it is as described.
Emailed the seller a couple of times with concerns.
He assured me I will be more than happy with it.

Make sure you check flywheel runout , bellhousing concentric alignment & bellhousing parallel alignment, if you are having issues.

yes Paul , I tried to get it close last time I had it out. The Bell that came with my car had been filed/ ground down in a couple ares. I could not get it within specs. Maybe take it apart this winter and try it again with bell housing that's on it's way.
I am NOT good at dialing it in. I 'll try and get someone to come over that is good at it.

Dave

PS, Are you going to Riegelsville?

I bought a repo bell housing from Ames but sent it back. The quality was poor, looked like a lot of imperfections in the casting. That was about a 1 1/2 years ago , so things could have changed…….
I didn’t even try to dial it in or install.

My bellhousing from Ames worked fine a decade ago - YMMV.
