Jack color
 

In 1970, was the jack "shaft" silver, gold cad or silver cad? I have a jack that I am certain is from an untouched 1970 LeMans and it is gold cad, but it does not look right when restored.
Also what was the correct hue of the base and jacking mechanism. The photo shows two shades of "Pontiac Blue".
In the second photo the jack on the left is correct (U70) for 1970, but the color on the other jack looks more correct.

The jack on the right was used on Fremont cars. Possibly South Gate and Van Nuys too but I'm not positive.
The base was normally gloss black with a two piece 'Ford Blue' mechanism and a rectangular shaft. Wrench was painted light blue. Sometime in the early 70s the base changed color to Ford Blue.
Fremont shafts were Silver Cad.

The jack on the left is stamped "U70" on the base, designating a 1970 unit. It is more triangular shaped than the square shaft Fremont unit and I believe it is the correct unit for a 1970 GTO. If I understand correctly the base and jacking mechanism should be Ford blue with a silver cad shaft and hold down bolt/wing nut and a light blue (?Pontiac blue) wrench? Were the jacks the same across all GM divisions in 1970?

My 70 Van Nuys El Camino jack was different. No hook on the mechanism but had a separate 'bumper shoe' that latched onto it. I would imagine each division was different due to the different bumper designs.

Not familiar enough with jack colors of the other assembly plants but I think Ford Blue was found only from the West Coast plants.

The jack colors in your pictures are correct. The west coast style jacks with the square mast were that Ford blue with the silver cad plated mast. I have seen their bases be black in some cases. Both of the ones I have from 71s have the matching blue base.

The trapezoid style jacks were gold cad and had the lighter Pontiac blue mechanism and base during the late 60s - early 70s.
