and i think its safe to say this does not go under the cover

You are correct....... it does not go under the cover.

Never thought the juice was worth the squeeze on those things. Get a Cloyes Z chain or Milodon gear drive and be done with it.
I do however have one of those sideways front mount distributor set up I might let go of at some point.
The racer had the belt drive- crank trigger and front mount distributor and ditched it all for a HEI. Runs about the same. He tossed it in with a crank trigger I bought from him.
But I am still running points with a cast iron distributor.
For most of us there is not a whole lot of power to be found in a ignition system. Just has to be quality and work correctly IMO.

honestly i dont know that ill use it, i doubt i would have bought it new. I really was only lookin for the rpm intake at the time. for the couple motors i have on the stand now i have a couple edelbrock accudrives. the rest i was just gonna get a good chain for. When i seen this i thought it might be cool on the blown 406 but.....im worried it might just complicate things for me

I have a nice oil pan set up for a BOP front plate if you do use the belt drive set up.

Not to hijack, but willing to help someone out if a pan is needed for this application.

It looks like you need the motorplate, tensioner with bolt and bearing, timing bracket, oil pan, and the belt itself. You can get a bracket for crank trigger and a front mount distributor kit.

performerrpm 12-11-2024 12:51 AM

i wonder if you can uses either motor plate full/motor only? i think i seen a needle type pointer for the cam timing but your talking about a timing bracket for the crank gear, which i didnt even think about....i do have a brand new belt tho, i may go ahead buy everything to complete it
