Dash Woodgrain treatment?
 

My original woodgrain on the dash looks pretty nice still so I'd like to leave it.

is there anything I can treat it with without removing it from the car? if nothing else I was thinking some paste wax or something just to give it a little rejuvenation.

I don't know if I've done any damage to my Firebird dash bezel, but I've used Lemon Pledge on a rag and rubbed it in.

What year and what model are you talking about?
1966 is the only year that used a “real” wood veneer.
The other years used a plastic vinyl wood grain.

It's a '66. it looks like real wood to me, and I know the history of the car and it's the original dash.

I thought they were all real wood.

I've always used a good-quality wood polish rather than something like Pledge (which many furniture companies don't recommend). It's easy to apply with a small cloth, and you definitely don't need to take it out of the dash. That would be a heck of a job!

I've used Watco Danish Oil in the past on my '66 GTO's. These were oil finished from the factory, no lacquer or varnish was used like you see on many restored dashes.

I’ve used Scott’s Liquid Gold for over 40 years now.
Apply a small amount on a cloth and gently wipe on the wood.

Back in the day when I had my GTO, I used Lemon Pledge on it every week. No damage done and it looked great. Some type of wood oil is probably better though.

I put a little Watco on it and it looks nice. after it's died a few eeks I'll put some pledge or liquid gold on it. it's amazing that little layer of wood can last 60 years with basically no care.
