So Tom, what year valve covers does this car have in place? I know there were various detail changes over these years. Also, what's with the rather unusual stitching on the face of the dash cover? Don't think I have ever seen anything like that on cars of this vintage. I have 3 62 dash pads, none look like that. Nice looking car. Love the color combination and it's an SD after all.

Those are 63,correct 62 with 127 heads used that same basic cover but without stacks,used twist in breathers.Tom

I think in 62 the made a short dash cap and a full dash that went to the windshield. my 62 GP got the full dash..I think the very cheap entry level Cat got no pad at all.Im 80 so that kind of stuff is not as clear as it used to be!Tom

Once again, learned something new. So my 62 clone SD needs to lose the stacks. Thanks.

Real SD 62s are very rare as when the 63s came out racers replaced the 62s with 63s.Pretty EZ to make 62s out of 63 Sds by removing the tubes and notching the cover for twist in.I still have tubes to make 63 421HO covers.Tom

Stitching on the pad is because it was recovered in an upholstery shop. I have similar look in my 66 2+2. It was redone also.

I also saw it in Pete’s book, no mention of aluminum hood, bumpers, etc in the book . Mecum add says steel fenders were special ordered

Car sold for $165K including the fees. This one also sold for $192.5K, went for $242.5K at Kissimmee back in 2019

Both of those cars were beauties. The red one was said to be a Scott Tieman restoration so it's likely there was more $$$ in the restoration than what it sold for this time around. It's nice to see these real, documented cars are still retaining high values, even if dropping considerably from historic highs. The cream of the crop always rises to the top.
