67 firebird engine height

After looking at my sad bird for years wasting away in the garage I finally decided to get it back together. I am reassembling a 67 Firebird utilizing a TCI subframe. The TCI frame motor mounts are designed for LS1/BBC engines, requiring me to fabricate custom motor mounts. Having positioned the engine approximately where it needs to be, I am uncertain whether it sits too high.
I have a picture with a square coming off the firewall to the top of the carburetor and it looks like the top of carburetor is 1.5” from the top of firewall. Can anyone check this measurement on a stock firebird? I plan on using. “400” hood, I just don’t have it yet so I’m not sure if I’m too high.
If I’m sitting too high i can put a nice dimple on the oil pan to drop it another 1/2”-3/4” tops.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am also using a “Performer RPM” manifold so I know that raises the carb at least another 1”.

you are in the ballpark, i have a torker 2 with a 1" spacer and holley dp and i am also getting 1.5 inches below top of the firewall, stock mounts with stock subframe

Thank you, tanksteve.
Do you have a normal air cleaner or a drop cleaner? Or is there no clearance issue with the air cleaner and the hood?

I am considering getting a Torker II to lower another inch if I need it.

i have a dropped K & N air cleaner and that clears, not tried a normal air cleaner. I have run a Performer RPM in the past and it was almost the same height and also used the same dropped air cleaner.

Torker II - .400” taller than stock.

Performer RPM - 1.25” taller than stock.

Straight out of the Edelbrock catalog.
