'68 interior paint code 219
 

Well I just spent 2 hours at the paint shop. Not the body shop, the paint shop. I have multiple paint chip sheets for the '68 and the back side lists trim numbers that match the cowl tag. I have a '68 GTO convertible with interior color 219, Dark Teal. Who might happen to have the paint code/formula for the lower dash/column?

The Fisher code should be W30A3708 and the RM tintometer formula number is 168B29. These are for the semi-gloss.

The problem is, there is no modern formula codes.

Is there anybody out there with a Mensa IQ for paint formulas? Thanks.

I ran into this same problem recently with our Ventura. The paint shop had an old interior paint chip book and a color code for the interior green (Medium Green 42901LH), but Dupont isn't made anymore. The spectrophotometer tool couldn't match the color with a high percentage either. We ended up going through the stand alone Axalta paint chip books (which is apparently what Dupont became) to find something close. Even then, it what was mixed came out different than the chip. You might have to get creative.

Yeah that is an option. I'm still hoping that there is someone out there that has knowledge of a source for the actual formulas. It would really make life simple.

Also the GTO Restoration Guide by Paul Zazzarine gives colors and cross reference colors by different manufacturers. A very worthwhile resource and investment. E-bay usually has used copies.

I work at a ppg shop, so I can see what I can find Monday. But it looks like there's a positive review for the NPD color, for whatever that's worth.

Goatboyjohnny, Thanks for all of this. I'm going to order a can and see where that gets me. The paint shop can see the codes but cand pull a mixing formula for the paint. Hopefully this rattle can is a match. I'm only painting a tilt column that I recently purchased. I'm 6'4" and not as flexible as I once was!
