Does the repro '66-67 Tach (sold by our host) fit in a standard '66-67 cluster?
Takes too long to explain, but wondering if anyone has popped/dropped the repro tach into a standard cluster without major modification?
Thanks to the board, I have a line on a nice set of guages, just wondering what my options are. Thanks! |
If you mean the standalone tach that goes in the 4th pod, yes, it just screws into the dash bezel where the clock or blank would otherwise be. I have it in my '66. One thing you may not be aware of is that the the main gauge cluster is one big unit, so you only have the option to place the aftermarket tach in the 4th pod. You can't put it where the tach is located with the factory rally gauges.

I also just finished installing the standalone tach in place of the clock in a '66 dash as well. Easy to install and works very well. Would not hesitate to recommend the unit sold by our host.

I also installed one years ago in my old 66 Lemans Sprint, easy, and worked well. even if the face color didn't match the original faceplate color on the 66 dash.

camerjeff, Were you able to swap the clock for the tach with the dash in the car, or did you take the entire dash out?

I just swapped out the clock block off plate with the tach, a bit of a pain but I did not have to take out the dash.
