1965 GTO Rocker Moldings Ames Reproduction
 

Good day, folks. Has anybody purchased and installed the Ames reproduction rocker moldings for a 1965 GTO, part number F249L and F249R?

They say they are excellent quality, and they are usually pretty accurate. At $79.00 USD each, I wonder if it is even worth getting my originals repaired and polished?

I would certainly keep my originals and maybe take a shot at cleaning them up myself, but I don't have the time right now. It seems like the Ames parts could be a quick and easy solution in the meantime.

Can anyone chime in?

I had heard they were just a tad short, but I never purchased a set to determine if that was true.

Hi Andre. I called Ames, and they said they sold 71 of these rocker moldings last year with zero customer complaints. They have their own manufacturer of these moldings; they are not made by Dynacorn like many other parts vendors sell.

I ordered a set and will check back in here once I get them mounted.

So, I got the Ames reproduction rocker moldings mounted today. They look great and fit excellent. Very pleased!

Great! I didn't realize that there were 2 manufacturers.

I didn't either until I talked to Ames. My install experience was a very good one with these reproductions. The two screw holes (front and back) lined up perfectly and the molding fastened pretty nicely to the clips. It looks nice and tight.

I still have my factory original moldings and will get to small dent removal and polishing at some point. I just don't have the time to play around with them right now.

With the way these reproductions look and fit, however, I don't know that I will be in a huge hurry to fix my originals.
