TEMU tilt column?

I noticed TEMU is advertising tilt columns at the $150 price point. Anyone have info about them?

Sure, it's Chinese, but is it worth a try as opposed to typical aftermarket pricing of around $600? Are the $600 unit made in the USA?

New, and what could go wrong?.....

Stop buying from Temu, alibaba, and all the other direct Chinese companies. You’re undermining the US economy. Oh and Amazon who are importing this counterfeit stuff.
See another post where someone order some Comp rockers from Amazon and Comp won’t warranty them!

Not sure how comfortable I'd be driving down the road, knowing the only thing connecting me to the front wheels some Chinese junk made by the cheapest labor a communist country can offer.

However, I won't tell you what to do.

I know a couple of people who had their credit cards compromised by shopping at TEMU.

Why would you want to buy that junk. Buy an idiot one. ( ididit)

So are the Ididit and Flaming River ones made in the USA? Does not mention it on the web site.

IDIDIT shows made in USA on the Summit sight. Was looking at this one for my 65. :)

TEMU is selling car parts, let alone Pontiac parts, at too good to be true prices?!? God help us!

Do you have a link to that column?

newmexguy 03-24-2025 09:35 AM

There are several suppliers who sell rebuilt ORIGINAL GM columns, tilt or otherwise. I've sold core columns to them. Look up Paul T., user name "ros6872" or "mrskylark71". Southern New England location. Very good reviews.

Undoubtedly I would love to get an Oem tilt column for my '67, primarily since they have a collapsible column. It saved my butt back when a guy slid over to my side of the road at a closing speed of at least 50 MPH. Destroyed my Lemans Sprint, shortened the column, bent the steering wheel, I walked away.

They don't seem to be readily available, at a reasonable price. None of the aftermarket tilts that I have seen are collapsible. My short term fix is a smaller diameter aftermarket wheel.

Thanx for the info, newmexguy...IF you get any '67 A body tilts, let me know.

I was looking at replacing my 65 column with a 67 for exactly that reason. It's not a bolt in unfortunately but I guess it can be done. Never really feel comfortable with a steel rod pointing directly at my chest. Maybe the tilt function would absorb some energy by breaking but who knows.

Often times the cores are tough to get in good shape. On 69 and up, the base with the key lock can be really messed up inside and not allow for a steering wheel lock, or even a buzzer, but sometimes can work. That base, with key lock incorporated is NOT available as I recall.had to buy 3 for parts last year. The IDIDIT column doesn't have the firewall plate mounted, so there is some stuff to do.

Yeah, finding something like a '67 to '74 tilt column out in the field now, is like finding a holy grail. Dried up. Maybe a '76/'77 A column, those sometimes are seen. Regal, Cutlass, etc. Yep, one can find junk too, remember a '78 Pontriac Le Mans example bought maybe 7-8 years ago. Upon dissambley, several years later, the tilt parts had been ground by sand and grit, so much, that the specific tilt parts were garbage.
