What is the ratio for a standard '77 Trans Am steering box? Was there a faster WS6?
Have been dragging around a complete Saginaw box with a '77 date code (will revalidate today) and wondering just what is in that darn thing.
Thought it was drained until it did a mini-Exxon Valdez in the storage unit  yesterday. Are the internall stops different from thirdgens? Any idea of what torsion bar is in there? Thinking of stripping it down and using the guts in the '67 GTO PS box, but very unsure of how that outcome would be. Thanks! |
IINM, the 78,79 WS6 box had a quicker ratio.

If I remember correctly, the cars without WS6 have a variable ratio box.

I bought an IROC box for my 442 and when that was wrecked transferred the box to the Lemans. I swapped out the IROC end cap with the stops for A body end cap. |
Thanks to all for the answers - much appreciated.
Finally got pics of the box, know absolutely NOTHING about it. Said to be from a '70s TA, but no real mark or identification like a tag or mark. Any ideas based on these pics is welcome! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...797937_o_d.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...57b198_o_d.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0aa89d_o_d.jpg |
