65 Full Size Power Trunk Picture?
I am hoping someone can help me out with a picture that shows how the 65 vacuum trunk power unit (the actuator that mounts to the trunk latch) is mounted. If I remember right it mounts at an angle, not horizontal. Does someone have one in a 65 Catalina, GP, Bonneville etc and would be willing to post a couple of pictures? My friend is wanting to install one in his 65.
Thanks! |

Mounts on driver side.

Thank you, that helps a lot. Do the 2 bolts that hold the vacuum unit on go just through the latch mounting plate to the vacuum unit, or do they also involve the latch itself? I'm assuming the bolts just go through the latch plate only but I'd like to be certain.
If you have a picture of where they go through the latch mounting plate as well that would be great but this already helps.. |
Just as an aside - my '63 came with the vacuum remote trunk release.
I could get it to work if I put a hand held vacuum pump on the port directly, but the engine could not generate enough vacuum to get it to pop. I ended up retrofitting a more modern (circa 1968) electric system so that I could have the functionality. K |
