Pics of power steering pressure hose?
Does anybody have any good info or pics of the original power steering pump to steering gearbox supply hose? I inadvertently wrecked my hose trying to break it free of the pump and then found out the listed part number replacement that I had was nowhere near the shape of the original and won’t fit.
Part of the aftermarket parts issue might stem from the reproduction part manufacturer that incorrectly states the models that the hose fits. The Plews Edelmann website lists their “correct” part # as: 70206 The parts place shows an Edelmann manufactured hose that looks more correct (71308) but that hose doesn’t support our cars according the the PE website. Maybe TPP solved the fitment issue with this part number? I’ve read various old posts trying to sort this out over the years and wondered if some original pics might help us match to a real part number that works. |
I know a lot of the replacements have that fluid restriction crimped in the middle of the line which our cars didn't have originally. I believe I ordered a hose for an early 70s Chevrolet truck & it was perfect. I don't know if it had the exact same bends as the original hose did though, but I think it was very close or I probably wouldn't have used it. Been 8 or so years ago already so I am forgetting some of the details. But do some searching on the chev trucks & look at those hoses & see what you think.

Looks like I ordered a Gates 354730
Does not appear to be a good part number anymore though. :( |

Yep the supposedly “correct hose” that I have does indeed have that crimp in the middle of the hose too. Thanks for that Gates number too. That could be another piece in the puzzle hidden on some obsolete cross reference sheet out there that’ll help tie things all together as we figure it out. I really appreciate the info. Thank you 👍 |
