HUGE collection of top shelf PONTIAC cars at MECUM coming up
1 Attachment(s)
Have you guys seen the Pontiac docket at the upcoming MECUM auction!?!?
Holy cow. Sell your crashing stocks, cash in those 401k's that are all going lower every minute. Just amazing offerings. The Bobby Knudsen collection of 8 Catalinas: Super Duty, Swiss Cheese etc highlight the Pontiacs up for sale. Holy grail of cars. https://www.mecum.com/auctions/indy-2025/lots/?auction[0]=Indy+2025|1746748800|1747440000&configure[filters]=&configure[ruleContexts][0]=pin_items&q=pontiac&page=3 |
4 62 SDs and 2 63 SD SC cars.NICE!

I get the sentiment of owning a piece of history, but....
6 months down the road when those same stocks have rebounded & are much more valuable than today, your 401K is worth more than it ever has before.... that cool old Poncho will not look like such a great deal anymore, unless of course you have to have one in your garage. Then of course it is OK!!!!:D God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/ |
Yeah true. And as for value I am not so sure these Pontiacs will really go up much in value with those that love them or know them aging out or passing away like this seller did.
How many under say 40 or 50 even care about them and their history. Sad. |
Some amazing 59 Bonn's there too.
2 really spiffy 65 GTOs Ram4 4spd 69 TA The Knudsen cars are an incredible collection. He had exquisite taste in Pontiacs |
While the SD cars are amazing I would rather have this because I could actually drive it around. This is a bucket list car for me but at 50 years old it is not my time yet to own it yet.

70 OrbitO Ram3 Auto Judge 150k versus 70 SS LS6 Auto Triple Black high options 99k
Things have changed a lot in recent years. |
I was there with M. Garblik, my brother, and another friend. All of us fairly knowledgeable old Pontiac enthusiasts. we went to the show primarily to see the early 421 Super Duties and the late model SD 455 cars but there were some other incredible Pontiacs there. Best money I ever spent! The highlight of the show (for me) was watching the Royal Pontiac and Mickey Thompson Super Duties start up and drive off. Some big money spent today. The '63 Royal Pontiac Super Duty hammered for an eye watering 675K w/o fees. Thoroughly checked out the late model Super Duties as well. All but a couple needed a lot of work IMO. The '73 Formula SD was undoubtedly the best of the bunch but being very nitpicky I saw a couple very minor issues. It was a beautiful restoration and very, very well done. There was a '74 red Super Duty there that claimed 'highly original unrestored condition' and '18,000 miles shown. Really nice car but BS on the 'highly original unrestored condition'. There were numerous giveaways on that one. It didn't even have the correct 'Trans Am' decals...lol., but it was a very nice car. I'll be posting a link to pics and videos I took at the show.

It doesn't look 18k mile original in pictures either.
But won't be surprised if some sight unseen internet bids push up the bidding on it. |

The Super Duty Trans Ams, granted most were just driver quality, but numbers matching apparently. I feel they all sold light.

Mecum Indy '59 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Wagon
Almost forgot one of the most beautiful incredible Pontiacs there!
This car was spectacular. We all loved it. An incredibly beautiful restoration! https://photos.app.goo.gl/YX1KghE8AkAfPGjt8 |

Here is a cool pic of the SD’s I took yesterday

And that 59 wagon was amazing- I can’t believe it went for $44k. I would have been a bidder at that price.
