I am going back to the stock air cleaner/vent tube set up and I have a question about this tube. The end that goes down into the valve cover goes in pretty far. This tube was in my box of parts when I bought the car several years ago, so I have not used it before. The end of the tube is a little nicked up where maybe it hit a spring. I want to cut some of the tube off so it's not so close to where it can hit a spring. Is this a good idea or not? Thoughts?

I think the engineers at Pontiac figured the length of the tube out.
Just use it as intended.

Good point. The tube would have to move a lot inside the valve cover to hit something. It is strange however that the tube does have some gouge marks near the end of it.

I’ve owned several of the #616 A.I.R 67’s and know of others and never experienced any problem with that tube.

It was engineered that way for a reason.

The reason I asked 60sstuff was because of the gouge marks. Just being cautious.

Tube was designed to reside inside a baffle. Unless you've
got no drippers, contact with a valve spring is impossible.

So "242177P" there is supposed to be a baffle mounted inside the valve cover for the tube to go down into. All I have on my valve cover is the rubber grommet. I was just concerned that the tube could move around a little bit inside the valve cover. I just have the factory chrome plated steel covers.

Okay thanks "242177P". I don't have that dripper/baffle setup on my engine.
