Help With Hideaway Lights, Trying To Open During Running Lights
This has been harder than expected.
I've got Oracle lights now in all 4 locations, just to get the high beams to function was a PIA (H4 housings only, high beam is 2 prong so H7 should've worked). ISSUE I want the hideaway doors DOWN on running lights switch setting. So far our idea of 5/2 valve has been challenging. I bought a spare headlight dash light switch in case there's an option in here. Any idea how to get the vacuum to drop the doors on the running lights setting? Oracle has a running lights ring that would be nice to use but the doors are up so you only see a blue faded light out the bottom of the doors. Thanks |
Shooting from the hip here, but I'm thinking a solenoid operated vacuum switch similar to the distributor advance vacuum switch used on the 70 and up models.
Connect the switch to the parking / running lights. Pull switch to parking lights, solenoid energizes, allowing vacuum to the doors. Don't know whether that particular switch will allow sufficient vacuum to the door actuators |
Thanks
Looks like we're doing 2 vacuum Solenoids placed in line with the main vacuum hose coming into the switch. The solenoid will be activated by the running lights themselves, once they get power they turn on the solenoid and it will move the vacuum to the doors during the running light 50% out on switch. I was hoping there was a way to add a vacuum port on the switch itself in the middle of the two ports but it's way too hard to pull off successfully vs this option. |
