Jump boxes
 

Any real world experience here would be appreciated. Had an alt issue couple days ago and needed a jump. neighbor came and jumped us. Thankfully after a 400 mile trip i was only a mile from home fueling up when battery quit on me. we are doing the power tour in a couple weeks and i was researching jump box's i do like the noco brand of chargers and have been happy with mine so far. The reviews are good but i always look at the neg reviews for some reason. seems to be real world usage info. unlike the ones that say "looks great can't wait to use it" so without making this longer what are you guys USING that you are happy with? years ago i had one i got from napa,it was heavy like a lead acid battery with a air compressor and a kinda flashlight. it worked great for about 10yrs. the newer ones i see today are all lithium types. ???? are they any good?

I've had the NOCO GB70 for at least 8 years. I am a retired ACDelco warehouse distributor territory manager. I had several of my independent repair shops buy these from me with excellent results for starting cars with DEAD batteries.

I went with the GB70 because it's capable of starting up to an 8.0L gas V8 or a 6.0L diesel.

My GTO has a 7.5L V8.

The GB50 is only rated to start up to a 7.0L gas V8.

It's easy to use, holds a charge really well and is easy to recharge.

I believe the price difference is only about $50.00.

X2 for the NOCO. I also have one that's slightly underrated for my engine and it turns it over no problem. Their chargers are great too, will charge down below 1v and the NOCO 5 and 10 have a force mode so you can charge even a completely dead battery without resorting to trickery.

I keep the little Original NOCO Genius 1 around to charge my Firebird with the Terminator X on it, because so I can charge without threat to the ECU.

Dunno which Jump box i got, but its Batt is good but failed to put any voltage out due to some "protection device" inside. Means it has a high current switch of sorts that needs to be removed. Failed me in time of need, yet fully charged.

I'm on my 2nd one of these. Simple basic easy to use and they last forever. I am a car dealer so it gets used a lot.

I had both sons carry the JNC 660 through high school. They both had 'older' vehicles as their first "hot rods", and were terrible with leaving lights on, etc.... Worked great for them. Especially the oldest boy with his fully restored 1973 Ford Quadravan (1 of 10 made the 1st production year).

I have the 1000 NOCO,has been perfect when ever I have needed it.At my condo in the Sierras I have the 2000 as my boys have Dsl trucks and they can be a little had to start when temps get down too freezing.Tom

I have used Gooloo GP 2000 and GT 4000 and both have been disappointing. I bought the 2000 to jump start 79 chevy truck worked grea even when cold . The Avalanche 6.0 battery died, and gooloo 2000 tried starting it for about 2 seconds and then started beeping nothing after that. I bought a new battery for Avalanche and also bought the GT4000 for more power if that ever happened again. Well camping van is notoriously hard to start, still trying to figure that one out. Anyway hooked up GT4000 and turned van over 2 times before it started beeping. I learned the beeping means unit is overheating and needs to cool down. I am probably going to try the NOCO jump pack and see if that is the final jumper pack. I just hate spending all this money on these things. I had seen a lot of reviews talking about how good the Gooloo was

I have an 8.1L in my daily. I guess I'm SOL when it comes to the GB70.

I have only had to use my NOCO twice in the two years I have had it. I charged it when I first got it and it still shows a full charge.

The GB50 would probably start it in most cases, but if the battery is truly deceased it might not.

My customers used their GB70's to start cars with dead batteries in extremely cold weather with good results, hence I opted to get the GB70.

I have a Noco GB40 that has worked flawlessly for me for a few years now. I don’t have anything bigger than 6.0L. I throw it in whatever car I’m driving at the time.

I’ve used it countless times when moving cars around the shop that inevitably have low batteries. Always works!

I also have the NOCO GB40, it has worked well when I've jumped cars with it occasionally (our daily's are 4's and 6's). I got it primarily to have in my wife's car so as to not need to carry jumper cables. It's also been convenient when I've needed to jump my lawn tractor. I also bought one for my son who lives across the country. He was having issues and ended up replacing his battery, but it worked for him a number of times, including when his battery was 100% dead (he had to use the procedure to bypass the safety protocols because the voltage was too low for the battery to be detected).

NOCO GB150. Used it for about 5 years and still going strong. If it dies I am buying another one the next day. Small enough to fit under the seat and holds a charge for months

NOCO is the 'only way to fly......'
 

Got a couple of GB40s for the smaller stuff and a GB70 for the GTO or Suburban.

I try to remember to top off the charge every couple months, or after every use.

We were introduced to NOCO via a Genius G26000 charger. That guy would charge or start ANYTHING. If finally quit and I haven't been able to find anyone who does repairs.....

Back-in-the-day, I carried a fully-charged spare battery, a pair of new terminal ends, a terminal cleaner, a small 3/8 drive socket set and 1/2" and 7/16" box wrenches in the trunk on road trips.

I figured it would at least get me into the next town.

If it was a desolate area we were traveling in, there would be a spare alternator, spare belts, thermostat and gasket and about 5 gallons of coolant in there, too.

I've had friends buy the 'no-name' jump boxes and discovered they're basically junk.
