Ball joint question 63 cat
I bought a set of GM NOS upper ball joints for my 63 Cat. I broke the LH upper last weekend. My question is It seems that the LH and RH are supposed to be different in some way. The two I have appear the same other than one stud is marked with yellow paint and the other marked white. Does anybody know how I can id these? No info left on the old boxes.

The numbers on Summit's site say there is only one number for 59-70 Catalina upper ball joints. I thought that they were interchangeable, but trying to remember details like that from 50 years ago when those cars were just daily drivers, I thought I'd be sure and check.
Summit lists 3 different vendors, all show only 1 number for 63 Catalina upper ball joints. |
So here’s what I found when installing these NOS GM upper front ball joint. [FONT="Impact"]There is a left and a right. There’s 3 mounting holes on these. 2 sides have a single weld spot. 1 side has 2 weld spots. The two weld spots face out towards the wheel. When looking at it from the outside side view, you’ll see that the opening for the stud is not perfectly centered. The opening should favor towards the back of the car. If it favors the front, you’re holding the ball joint for the other side of the car.
