64 GTO w/transistor ignition - did they delete vacuum can from distributor?

Came across an all-original 64 GTO at a show today that was equipped with transistor ignition option code 571 (per the window sticker). The distributor had no vacuum advance can.

Was that normal with transistor ignition?

Factory ones did have a vacuum advance unit.
Maybe it was an aftermarket unit?

The control unit is on the radiator support ( I think)

Thanks guys, I'll pass this information along to the car owner. I'll try to get him to pull the distributor to see if it still has its Delco tag on it and to see if there is evidence that it once had (or didn't have) provision to attach a vac can.

Here is a 1965 T.I. system.
I think the 1964 is very similar.
