65-66 2 door post power antenna location
 

Does anyone have a 65-66 B body 2 door post with a factory installed power antenna? I'm looking for the correct mounting location for it. Thanks!

Darn. Nobody has one of these or knows of one?

Looking at several photos online, its located on the passenger front fender.

That may be a manual antenna. Apologies for not complete information.

Chassis manual shows electric on right rear quarter.

Yes, that is where it should be located if factory installed. Does the manual happen to give any indication as to where it should be mounted?

Unfortunately, the manual does not provide any measurements. The diagram shows there may be a rib on the inner fender well with a hole for the mounting bracket to attach the antenna. Use the angled bezel sleeve to set the angle of the antenna to get your hole location.

Thats all the info I have to offer.

Thanks for the input. I'm hoping I can at least find a decent picture of one on a car and that should help.

I knew I had these pictures dating back to year 2004 when a guy here on PY, helped me out when I fitted a power antenna into my 1966 Grand Prix. Just took ages to find them!

The critical part is the distance back from the forwardmost part of the trunk lid and the position in from the side of the trunk lid. Whether you own a Grand Prix, a Catalina or a Bonneville, all those measurements are the same.

I'd say YES for sure. If you look at a Bonneville and compare the trunk length to a Catalina, the Catalina trunk is (about) 6" shorter. And if you compare a Catalina trunk length to a Grand Prix, the GP trunk is (about) 6" shorter again.

But the panel distance from the trunk lip to the rear window on all models is the same.

Whether you have a 2 door post or a 4 door Bonneville, I'm almost positive the panel between the trunk lip and rear window is the same part. Someone with a parts manual can hopefully verify that.

ONE MORE THING..... If you are fitting a genuine power antenna, you should also ensure you have the metal protection cover which goes just under the rear seat. If you don't fit it, you might find the rear seat passengers weight will press down on the antenna lead. I have a cover I can photograph if you need to see one. Its out of my 1965 Parisienne Convertible which is currently in "long term storage" at my panel beater!!!
