window molding glass insulator strips for 77 T/A
I'm looking for the plastic glass insulator strips that fit in the front and rear windshield moldings. I have seen these are included in some of the aftermarket trim sets that are for sale but I have not seen them available separately.
I have parts and pieces of them but they have deteriorated on all 3 of my 77 and 79 year model T/As. I have checked the usual parts suppliers and automotive weather-strip companies. Anybody have a source? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Nobody replaces these or has a source where to get them? The black insulator was around my rear window molding on a 1977 Trans Am. The off white insulator was in the top windshield molding on the same car and it had 5.
Anybody know where I can get some replacements? Thanks. |
I’ve got a box of front and back trim, you could pick through , I’ll be in Dayton in a couple weeks.

Sorry Burd, unless Dayton is near Dallas that's a no. I'm still enjoying the battery topper I got from you for my 442. Thanks.

I’ll look in the box, I’m pulling swap stuff out, ship on that may be stupid due to size. What exactly do you need?
Take a run to the tranny Natz. You’ll like. |
At a bare minimum, I need the black insulation for the driver's side, left rear window molding, hockey stick shaped piece. I need 5 of the smaller off white pieces that fit in the front windshield piece across the top of the glass. I was hoping to find these new since I see some of the for sale aftermarket moldings come with new glass insulation. I don't need moldings. I just need the insulation pieces. Most used pieces of the black rear window insulation are so old and brittle they fall apart when you try to remove them from the molding. The front pieces are stronger and smaller, easier to remove but usually have the edges broken off, so they fallout when the molding is removed.
I've been to the Oldsmobile Nationals when it was in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Pontiac Southern Nationals here in the Dallas area a few times. It is on October 18th this year. I plan to go and drive a Pontiac. https://www.dapa.org/PSN/PSN-Flyer-2025.pdf Road trip isn't in the cards this year. I have 3 project cars I'm working on. All Trans Ams, 1977, 1987 GTA, and 1994 25th Anniversary. Thanks for trying to help. |
Plastic PCs on the upper inside 2 metal trims to glass you can’t get either. I think I have those too.
I’ll put the box this evening and look. |
