ATtN : Motocross Fans - History made today

An 11 year old girl won the National Title today at Loretta Lynn's 44th annual Championship.
This is no small feat. You have to qualify through a series of events to even get to LL.
First Girl to ever win an open class National Title in 44 years.

Raycin Kyler went 3 rounds placing 4-2-2 to take the overall against about 40 boys
65cc Cobra , age group 10-11

Also another Girl in the younger 7-9 age group 65cc class
Yumena Berning "almost" won the National Title in her class too , on a KTM.
Came down to the last lap in round 3 , but she came in 2nd place by half a second.
IF - she could have gotten 1st in the last race - she would have won the Overall Points / National Title.
She went 2-5-2 in 3 rounds and got Second Overall National against about 40 boys also.

Both girls were the first girls to ever make the Podium (1-2-3) at the Nationals in 44 years.
A girl has not taken 1st in a round - YET - but both of them did come very close in one of their respective races , and both have lead laps in their respective races.

LaLa Turner 17 years old - the Women's MX Champ - on a Yamaha 250F
Finished 7th in one of her rounds against about 40 young men.in 250cc class.

Average riders do not race at Loretta Lynn's Nationals , only the very best amateurs make the field.
Most class winners and strong performers get pro contracts / factory or furnished rides after the event.

LaLa is already a Factory Yamaha racer in WMX
Dominates the Women's pro series pretty hard.
She wants to eventually ride Pro Level with/against the top men.
Someday in the next 1-3 years she very possibly might do that.

Her older brother is Pro 250F with KTM
Made top 10 in supercross season overall , and is top 20 in current MX season.
I think she is at about same caliber as him , but she keeps building speed and skill rapidly.

Those 3 girls , were each the Only Girl in those respective open classes.

Another young girl also qualified in another all-boy open class 85cc. Also the only girl in that open class.
13yo Hannah Jamison on a GasGas
Mechanical problems in Moto 1 - DNF
Hit the dirt once or twice in Moto 2 - 13th
Has one more round to go.

In her All Girl Class 11-16 she rides a modified big wheel 85cc that is 105 or 112cc
Currently tied for 1st with a 1 - 2 record so far.
16yo Mayla Herrick is tied with her with a 2 - 1 record so far.
Round 3 will be a big one.

Last round of 13yo Hannah versus 16yo Mayla

Mayla appeared to have the hole shot down the straight-away ,,,, but mysteriously did a forward flip over the bars and wadded up before the first turn. The whole field went by , but nobody hit her.
Hannah won the race easily after that , and the National Title.

Hannah was the favorite going in , but it looked like Mayla actually had her number.
Mayla went down in round 1 also , but recovered and got 2nd.
Then 1st in round 2 .

All these girls ride like highly skilled men. SuperFast

Awesome! They make it look so easy but get on a track and you soon discover MX/SX racers are amazing athletes.

Don't know how soccer surpassed Motocross as the most demanding sport.
I played soccer for several years.

Yumena Berning almost won her overall class in 7-9 65cc limited/stock.
2-4-2 in 3 rounds.
She missed 1st place in Moto #3 by less than a second , and took 2nd place in that.
She got the Silver Medal overall - 2nd in points .
If she could have won the last race , she would have won the Overall / Gold in points.

I got it wrong about Mayla Herrick's wreck in her last race.
She made it through 2 or 3 turns before she flipped , took a while to get the bike restarted.
Placed 39th , after going 2 - 1 in first two rounds.
She also ran the Women's class on a 250F and took 3rd overall her first year of eligibility.
Went 4 - 4 - 2 in 3 rounds
