REPLACEMENT GAS TANK 64 LEMANS
 

I'm going back together with my 64 Lemans and I need to order a new OEM style tank. Should I go with TANKS INC., GOODMARK, or other? Thanks.

I have a Spectra Premium tank in my ‘64 Tempest.

It has an internal fuel pump for EFI but I’m sure they offer a straight stock replacement one as well.

It fits well but I did have to use slightly longer carriage bolts for the tank straps.

I used the Spectra also for my stock 64 GTO. I also had to use longer carriage bolts for the straps. Easy peasy-

Ames offers 2 tanks. One SS and 1 painted.

When we restored the 64 we got a new tank, I think it was a Spectra. It fit great but didn't come with a filler neck. I had to transfer the filler neck from my original.

Wish I was as fortunate as you guys with the easy peasy fit Spectra tanks! AMD had a close out on Pontiac gas tanks so I bit and ordered one for my '64 Lemans/GTO. The filler neck was at a bad angle plus inserted too far into the tank. I called AMD and of course they NEVER had a complaint on those tanks fitment, I could return it at MY expense! I ordered a tank from Auto Zone bc of free delivery and returns, just in case. Same problem so it was returned! Both tanks were Spectra so maybe bad jig settings. Time for a torch massage.
P.S. AMD no longer sells the gas tank I need. Verrry Interesting, but dumb!?!?
