Looking for information and pictures of factory race cars air cleaners. Trying to find this for a running display 421 super duty 3 barrel engine.

The SD ACs on the dual quads won’t fit the 3 bbl.The 3 bbl has the large top and was only used on Super Speedways and I’m sure used a custom NASCAR approved AC.The 4 bbl NASCAR Carter AFBs were used on non Super Speedway cars.I run a pair of them on my Bathtub.I know Pete’s book has the number for the 63 version. When I get home I can give you the number.Off hand I think 4473.Tom

The single 4 bbl SD air cleaner were large diameter and used a 16 x 5 inch filter, they were primarily used by NASCAR stock cars, they are rare and hard to find today ,here's a few pics

Perfect
That is exactly what I was looking for.
Now I need to find or build one.
Also is the engine pictured a 61?

It’s either a 61 or early 62 with 306 heads.Tom

He doesn't have anymore made, they were made from early 63/65 Buick Riviera or late 50's Cadillac air cleaners, you have to cut them horizonally and add around 3 inches in height to the outer shell, (cutting the holes in the rear) the carb opening may need modified as well to fit larger carb , air filter size is a rare 16 x 5, i have a damaged spare filter that could be used for mockup, or could stack a couple of standard air filters that would work if height is right

Thank you for the additional pictures and information. I'd love to buy one done, but maybe I have to build it.
