Body Panel Gap Question

What is a reasonable gap between the top of the door edge and the bottom of the A pillar? My doors are aligning well with the quarter jamb and rocker panels, but both seem to have a huge gap - the driver's more than the RH side. Using original rebuilt hinges. Thanks.

Ive seen that gap be all over the place on these cars, I have 3 now & owned almost 50 in my time, they are all different, but Id say about 1/2-3/4 give or take a bit is common, with slight variances from side to side. Got pics of yours to show the space and compare to others?

I spent a ton of time adjusting my doors perfectly, then mounted the fenders and realized I had set the doors too low in front. The fenders, without any cowl shims, would not go far enough down to align the belt line crease. So what I'm saying is - there is no exact gap that you mention, but set a fender on and it will tell you the high limit on the A pillar gap
